Our Story
Mike Sinor has always been a grinder, a way of life he learned at a young age while working in his father’s auto wrecking yard. He brought that mentality to his first wine harvest in 1993 and never looked back. Through grit and determination, and without formal training, he ultimately became one of the Central Coast’s most decorated winemakers.
Mike and Cheri LaVallee married 1996 in Burgundy while on a study trip with Robert Mondavi owned Byron Winery. Soon after they started their own label. From 1997 to 2012 they bought grapes from spicific rows in vineyards. Talley-Rinon and Aubaine being the focus. From 2013 to 2023 they produced Sinor-LaVallee wines exclusively from their Estate, Bassi Vinyeard near Avila Beach. In 2024 Mike and Cheri sold the Bassi Vineyard to Mikey and Gina Giugni with no sales agents. Sinor-LaVallee will contine to make Bassi wines from a few selected blocks. Starting in 2024 Sinor-LaVallee is going back to its roots and sourcing fruit from the long time realtionships mostly in the SLO Coast AVA.
